Jordan contractors encouraged to work in Iraq

Iraq: The Iraqi government has called on Jordanian construction firms and contractors to establish a foothold in Iraq, to contribute to the country's huge rebuilding projects for which the government has allocated $40bn in 2012, Arab News has reported. "In a reconstruction blueprint unprecedented in the Arab area, the Iraqi government has allocated 40 billion dollars this year out of its $112-billion budget for development projects in the spheres of infrastructure, electricity, education and health," said Mohammad Darraji, Iraq's housing and rehabilitation minister. "Given their expertise and reputation, Jordanian and other Arab contracting firms can have a tangible role in the Iraqi reconstruction process," he added. [AMEInfo.com]
